Putin puts statistics service under control of economic ministry

MOSCOW, Apr 4 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree to transfer the Federal State Statistics Service under control of the Economic Development Ministry, according to a relevant document released on the official portal of legal information on Tuesday.

Economic Development Minister Maxim Oreshkin said in March that the Federal State Statistics Service’s February data was not reliable and should be significantly revised.

The ministry already controlled the Economic Development Ministry between May 2008 and May 2012, but later was again transferred under direct control of the government.
